Ambra by Jeroboam, composed by Vanina Muracciole and released in 2017, is a warm amber with woods and a thread of smoke. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, woody and ambery at once, and about half also find it musky, floral and citrusy.
Bergamot opens it with a brief, bright freshness, and geranium adds a green, slightly rosy note that is the scent's only floral gesture. The heart is incense, dry and resinous, which gives the amber a smoky, church-like edge and keeps it from being purely sweet. The base is the point: Peru balsam brings a warm, vanilla-and-cinnamon resin, vanilla and tonka bean add a creamy, hay-like sweetness, patchouli and vetiver give an earthy, rooty dryness, and musk softens the whole thing into a close, skin-like warmth.
It is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. The structure is built for cold weather and evenings, and it suits people who like ambers that are resinous and slightly smoky rather than powdery or fruity.
