Shades Blue by Armaf, released in 2016 for men, is a spicy woody scent with a fresh, herbal top. Woody is the description everyone gives; most people also call it spicy, about half citrusy, and a third herbal.

Grapefruit, lemon and bergamot start it off with a sharp, clean brightness, cooled by mint and rosemary. Ginger, cardamom and nutmeg then bring a warm, dry spice that gives the scent its backbone. Pine adds a resinous, forest-like freshness, before cedar, sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli settle into a dry, earthy wood base.

Wearers have not yet reported on longevity or projection. On character it is versatile: fresh enough for warm days, spicy and woody enough for autumn, and suited to office hours and casual evenings alike. It is positioned as masculine and will suit those who want a crisp, spiced wood rather than sweetness. It is sold in a large bottle.
