Ignes

Ignes is a dark, dry woody scent with a warm ambery base, released by the Italian house of perfumer Angela Ciampagna in 2016. It is worn by anyone.

The composition is built almost entirely on base materials, so it opens where many scents end. Bourbon vetiver and vetiver give a dry, smoky, earthy woodiness, Indonesian patchouli an earthy, slightly damp depth, and tobacco a dry, leafy, faintly honeyed warmth. French labdanum and labdanum bring a rich, resinous, leathery amber, with Peru balsam adding a sweet, vanilla-like balsam. Sandalwood gives creaminess, and musk and amber a soft, lasting finish.

It suits autumn and winter and evening wear. Anyone who likes dense, resinous woods with tobacco and vetiver, and no sweetness beyond the balsams, should find it a strong fit.
