Ensis, released by V Canto in 2015 and composed by Paolo Terenzi, is a sweet floral with a green, slightly metallic edge. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand and floral; about a third also find it green, musky, fresh or citrus.
It opens on black currant, bergamot, pansy and green leaves, a tart, leafy and slightly bitter start with a delicate floral touch. The heart is a spring bouquet: lilac for a soft, powdery sweetness, Bulgarian rose for depth, lily of the valley for dewy freshness, and more black currant for a tart thread that runs through. The base turns darker and sweeter: cocoa brings a dry, slightly bitter chocolate note, metallic notes add a cool, unusual sharpness, and amber, musk and patchouli give warmth and earthy depth.
Ensis is worn by anyone. Its mix of green flowers and cocoa suggests spring and autumn wear and suits both day and evening, and it is likely to appeal to anyone who enjoys florals with an unexpected twist.
