Contralto by Sospiro Perfumes, composed by Christian Provenzano in 2022 and worn by anyone, is a warm, spiced woody scent with a nutty sweetness. Spice is what everyone picks up; most also describe it as woody, and a third find it sweet, floral and amber-like.
Juniper berries and pink pepper open it, the juniper gin-like and piney, the pepper bright and rosy. Cloves follow, hot and slightly medicinal, and they define the scent's character. Chestnut is the unusual heart, roasted, nutty and gently sweet, with orange blossom adding a honeyed, slightly bitter floral note beside it. The base is guaiac wood, smoky and a little tarry, cashmeran for a soft, musky wood, Peru balsam for a sweet, vanilla-like resin, and vanilla to round it off.
It reads as a cold-weather, evening scent that smells of roasted nuts, cloves and warm wood, suited to someone who likes spice and gourmand touches but wants them dry and grown-up rather than sugary.
