Caraway is the spice, and it is an unusual choice for perfume. Its scent is warm, dry and slightly bitter, somewhere between cumin and anise, with a bready, rye-like quality that most people recognise from the kitchen before they can name it. Set against amber, it changes character: the amber brings a soft, resinous, faintly vanilla-like warmth that rounds off the caraway's sharp edges and turns it into something cosy and enveloping rather than savoury. The scent develops very little, which is the point; it simply becomes warmer and softer as the hours pass.
