Le Patchouli Elixir is an elixir-strength patchouli from the French house Reminiscence, released in 2024 and worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it says woody, about half add sweet or musky, and a quarter notice resin or amber.
Patchouli leads from start to finish, earthy, dry and slightly cocoa-like. Around it sit cedar for a clean, pencil-shaving wood, sandalwood for creaminess and vetiver for a rooty, smoky dryness. The sweetness comes from vanilla and tonka bean, warm and almond-tinged, and from tolu balsam, a resin with a cinnamon-vanilla character. Labdanum adds an ambery, leathery depth. White musk and musk soften the drydown and keep it wearable rather than raw.
