La Vie Est Belle is a sweet, powdery fragrance with a warm, woody undertone, a Lancôme eau de parfum from 2012 composed by Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Olivier Polge. Sweetness is what almost everyone notices first; about half of wearers also call it woody, powdery and warmly spicy.

It opens with pear and blackcurrant, a brief juicy brightness. Orange blossom and jasmine then give a soft white-floral glow, and iris adds a powdery, slightly cosmetic texture. The base is where it settles for hours: vanilla and praline bring a dessert-like sweetness, tonka bean rounds it off, and patchouli keeps it from turning sugary with a dry, earthy edge.

Most wearers find it long lasting, and a fair number say it simply does not fade. Its presence is usually reported as strong, so a little goes a long way. It is voted overwhelmingly for winter and autumn, and worn by night and by day in roughly equal measure, which makes it a cold-weather scent for someone who likes to be noticed.
