L'Interdit Eau de Parfum Rouge Ultime is the 2023 Givenchy edition that takes the L'Interdit white flowers somewhere darker, again from Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal. It remains a floral above all, with about half of wearers calling it woody and a minority picking up aromatic and amber tones.
Rather than fruit, the opening is already floral: Tunisian orange blossom and neroli with jasmine sambac, bright and slightly honeyed. The heart pairs Indian tuberose, creamy and heady, with cacao pod, which brings a dry, bitter cocoa note rather than milk chocolate sweetness. The base is tobacco, Indonesian patchouli leaf and Haitian vetiver for a smoky, earthy drydown, lifted by the clean warmth of ambroxan.
Most wearers find it lasts long or moderately long, and the sillage is reported as moderate to strong. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and much more for night than day, which makes it an evening and cold-weather choice rather than an everyday one.
