L'eau des Hesperides by the French house Diptyque, released in 2008 and composed by Olivier Pescheux, is a citrus scent worn by anyone. Citrus is the accord everyone names; two-thirds also find it spicy, green and aromatic, and a minority floral or musky.

The opening is crowded and lively: bitter orange, lemon and mandarin for the citrus, grass and petitgrain for green bitterness, rosemary for herbal sharpness, and caraway and pepper for an unexpected spice. The heart is mint and soft floral notes, cooling things down. The base of musk, cedar and immortelle adds a dry, faintly honeyed warmth.

Most wearers report moderate longevity, with about a quarter finding it long lasting, and projection is moderate or intimate. Summer leads the season votes, spring follows, and it is worn almost entirely by day. A grown-up citrus for hot days, for anyone who likes bitterness and herbs more than sweetness.

L'eau des Hesperides — unisex fragrance by Diptyque (released 2008). Top notes: Bitter Orange, Grass, Petitgrain, Mandarin Orange, Rosemary, Lemon, Caraway, Pepper. Heart notes: Mint, Floral Notes. Base notes: Immortelle, Musk, Cedar. — Parfica open fragrance database
