Le Messager from the French house Courrèges, released in 2023, is a minimalist musk built around an ink note. Everyone who describes it calls it musky, and about half also find it citrusy.
Bergamot opens it with a clean, slightly bitter brightness, the only conventional element in the composition. Then comes the ink note: dry, slightly metallic and papery, with the faint sharpness of a freshly written letter. White musk and musk wrap it in a soft, clean, skin-like warmth that carries through to the drydown, so the whole thing reads as a close, quiet, almost abstract scent rather than a perfume with a clear story of fruit and flowers.
