Bitter orange opens it, dry and tart rather than juicy, and it gives way quickly to the spices. Cardamom brings a cool, aromatic lift while cumin adds the warm, slightly sweaty, skin-like edge that has always been the signature of this line. The base is where the parfum earns its name: tolu balsam and benzoin give a sweet, resinous warmth, amberwood and cedar a dry, polished woodiness, vetiver a smoky, rooty depth and leather a soft, worn-in finish.
