Meringue

Meringue by French Avenue, composed by Carole Calmettes and released in 2024, is a sweet, musky scent with a surprising leather side. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, musky, leathery and citrusy at once, and about half also find it woody or ambery.

The notes are listed as a group. Bergamot, mandarin and pineapple open bright and juicy, the pineapple adding a tropical sweetness. Vanilla carries the meringue idea, soft, airy and sugary. Against that, suede gives a smooth, skin-like texture and birch a faintly smoky, tarry note, which is where the leather impression comes from. The base is sandalwood, ambergris and white musk, creamy, salty-warm and clean.

Meringue is a feminine fragrance. Vanilla and suede together lean towards cooler weather and evenings, though the citrus opening keeps it from feeling heavy, and it suits someone who likes gourmands with an unexpected twist rather than straightforward sweetness. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
