FiDi by Bond No 9, composed by Harry Fremont and released in 2019, is a spicy citrus with a soft, sweet base. Everyone who describes it calls it spicy and citrusy, and about half also find it sweet, woody, musky or floral.
The pyramid is compact. Bergamot and mandarin open bright and juicy, and black pepper gives them a dry, tingling heat from the first moment. The heart is lotus and nutmeg: the lotus is a light, watery, faintly sweet floral note, and the nutmeg a warm, slightly woody spice. The base is vanilla, cedar and musk, so the scent settles into something smooth and gently sweet rather than staying sharp.
FiDi is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. The citrus and pepper make it a daytime scent, suited to work and to spring and autumn, while the vanilla base gives it a little warmth for the evening. It suits someone who likes citrus with spice and a soft landing. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
