Atitlan

Atitlan is a creamy floral from the French house Noème, composed by Majda Bekkali and released in 2019 and named after a lake in Guatemala. Floral is the word everyone uses; about two thirds also find it gourmand and woody, and a third musky or ambery.

Madagascar ylang-ylang is the lead flower, heady, slightly banana-like and sweet, and mimosa adds a soft, powdery, honeyed floral tone beside it. Bourbon vanilla gives the composition its creamy, dessert-like warmth, which is what pulls it towards gourmand territory. Patchouli brings an earthy, dark depth that stops the sweetness becoming flat, and woody notes add a dry structure. Musk and amber round off the base with a soft, warm, lasting finish.

Atitlan is worn by anyone. The warm, creamy character points to cooler months and evenings, and it should suit someone who loves ylang-ylang and vanilla together and wants a floral that feels enveloping rather than fresh.
