Black Avaritia

Black Avaritia, released by the British house Memoize London in 2018, is a dark, sweet woody fragrance. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; about half also find it musky, a third gourmand or ambery, and a minority pick up resin or citrus.

Grapefruit gives the opening a brief, bitter brightness, and violet and powdery notes add a soft, slightly sweet, make-up-like haze. Honey brings a thick, golden sweetness in the middle, and agarwood a dark, smoky woodiness around it. Incense adds dry, church-like smoke, and cedar, cashmere wood and sandalwood a range of woody textures from dry to creamy. Vetiver gives an earthy, rooty edge, labdanum and vanilla a resinous, warm sweetness, and ambrette, musk and amber a soft, lasting skin-like finish.
