Karat

Karat from Maison Alhambra, released in 2022, is a sweet fruit scent with a soft, creamy base. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, with about a third also finding it woody and musky and a minority picking up greenery and a floral note.

The opening is a generous fruit mix: peach, pear, raspberry, blackcurrant and passion fruit, juicy and a little tart, with herbal and earthy notes adding a slightly green, grounded edge that stops it being purely sugary. Lily of the valley forms a light, clean floral heart. The base turns creamy and comforting, with vanilla for sweetness, heliotrope for an almond-like softness, sandalwood for smooth wood, patchouli for earth and musk to finish.

It is worn by anyone and has a warm, easy-going character suited to autumn and spring days and casual evenings, for someone who likes fruit that settles into vanilla and soft wood.
