L'Amant

Spice is the whole point of L'Amant, a 2026 release from L'Artisan Parfumeur composed by Nathalie Lorson. Everyone who describes it calls it spicy, and about half add woody; nothing else gets a look-in, which makes this an unusually single-minded composition.

The heat comes from pimento and chilli pepper, warm and tingling rather than culinary, layered over a blend of spices that keeps the opening lively. Beneath that sits an ink note, a dry, slightly metallic and papery touch that gives the fragrance a modern, almost austere edge. Patchouli and woody notes then take over, earthy and dark, grounding the spice so the whole thing settles into something smooth and skin-warm rather than fiery.

It is worn by anyone. The character suggests cooler weather and evenings, and a wearer who likes a fragrance with a clear idea behind it rather than a crowd-pleaser; the ink note in particular makes it feel more like a signature than a casual spray.
