The Collection Elegant Vetiver

The Collection Elegant Vetiver from the German house Hugo Boss, composed by Sophie Labbé in 2021, is a woody vetiver. Wood is what everyone notices, and a minority also pick up resin.

Juniper berries open it with a cool, dry, gin-like freshness. The heart and base are vetiver in three forms: Haitian vetiver, Java vetiver oil and vetiver itself, so the scent is earthy, smoky, slightly grassy and dry from the middle onwards. Pistachio adds an unexpected creamy, nutty softness that rounds off the roughness, labdanum brings a warm, balsamic resin, and cashmeran a smooth, velvety, musky wood that holds the drydown together.

It is marketed as masculine and suits daytime wear across most of the year, for the office or smart occasions, for someone who likes vetiver made polished rather than raw.
