Absolute

Absolute is a spicy, sweet aromatic from the British brand Hackett London, released in 2023, composed by Jordi Fernández and Marion Costero and marketed for men. Spicy, gourmand and floral are the three words everyone uses for it, and about half also find it green, herbal or citrusy, which describes a modern fougère with a sweet base.

Lemon and apple open it, the citrus sharp, the apple crisp and slightly sweet, with lavender adding a clean, herbal, soapy freshness and pink pepper a rosy, lightly spicy sparkle. The heart is where it becomes interesting: cardamom gives a cool, green spice, iris a powdery, slightly earthy softness, violet leaves a sharp, green, cucumber-like freshness, and geranium a rosy, faintly minty edge. The base turns warm and sweet, with vanilla and amber giving a creamy, resinous warmth and cedar and oak a dry, slightly tannic wood that keeps the sweetness in check.
