Habit Rouge L'Instinct

Habit Rouge L'Instinct by Guerlain, composed by Delphine Jelk in 2022, is a green, citrus-bright take on the Habit Rouge idea for men. People describe it as floral and citrusy in equal measure, and about half also find it sweet, green, woody and leathery.

Grapefruit and bergamot open it, bitter and bright, with green notes and mate, a dry, herbal tea note, adding a leafy freshness. Red rose and rose sit at the centre, clean and slightly spicy rather than jammy, which is where the floral character comes from. Cannabis adds a green, resinous, slightly herbal twist that is unusual in a mainstream masculine. The base is patchouli, leather and vanilla, earthy, smooth and softly sweet, which ties it back to the warm, powdery tradition of the original.
