Initial

Initial is a spicy, woody oud from Flavia, worn by anyone. Woody is how everyone describes it, most also find it spicy, and a third notice musk or herbs, which fits a straightforward Gulf-style structure of spice over wood.

Saffron, nutmeg and lavender open it together: the saffron dry, leathery and slightly metallic, the nutmeg warm, sweet and woody, and the lavender clean and herbal, giving the start a dry, aromatic heat rather than a fresh one. The heart is a general blend of woodsy notes, dry and slightly resinous, which carries the spices into the base without adding sweetness. The base is agarwood, deep, dark and faintly medicinal, with patchouli adding an earthy, damp depth and musk a soft, slightly animalic warmth that smooths the finish.

It is a scent for cooler weather and evenings, worn by anyone who likes saffron and oud in a dry, spicy, unsweetened form.
