Cologne Mood, released by Comptoir Sud Pacifique in 2017 as a cologne, is woodier and spicier than its name suggests. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, most add spicy, and a third mention sweet, floral and citrus.
Bergamot opens it with a classic cologne brightness, and rhubarb adds a tart, green, slightly sweet note that gives the start a lift. Cardamom and nutmeg bring the spice, the cardamom cool and aromatic, the nutmeg warmer and faintly sweet. Iris adds a powdery, cool floral touch in the middle. The base is where the wood lives: cedar, dry and pencil-like, and Indonesian patchouli leaf, earthy and slightly chocolatey, give the cologne a depth that outlasts the citrus.
It is worn by anyone. The spiced-wood character works across the year and for daytime wear, and suits a person who likes the ease of a cologne but wants more body than lemon and herbs alone.
