Bergamot gives the opening a bright citrus lift, and lavender adds the clean, herbal note of a traditional barbershop fragrance. Nutmeg and star anise bring the spice: the nutmeg warm and dry, the star anise sweet and faintly liquorice-like, which gives the middle its character. The base is sandalwood, musk and ambergris, the sandalwood creamy and smooth, the musk soft and skin-like, the ambergris adding a salty, warm glow that keeps the dry-down from feeling flat.
