Subtile

Subtile is a fruity woody floral from the French house Brecourt, released in 2018. People describe it as woody and floral in equal measure, and about half also find it gourmand, musky, ambery or citrusy.

Bergamot and blackberry open it together, the citrus bright and slightly bitter, the berry dark, juicy and a little tart. The heart is a soft pairing of rose and peony: rose for a full, slightly sweet floral tone, peony for a fresher, dewier, more transparent one. Patchouli adds an earthy, chocolatey depth beneath the flowers, and sandalwood a creamy, smooth woodiness. Musk and amber round off the base with a warm, skin-like softness that keeps the scent close and comfortable.
