Patchouli Wood

Patchouli Wood from Ajmal, released in 2014, is a woody oud with patchouli at its heart. Wood is what everyone notices; about half also find it spicy, and a minority pick up a floral note.

The composition is described in broad strokes rather than a long list. Spices and spicy notes open it warm and dry. Floral notes soften the middle. The core is patchouli, earthy, dark and slightly chocolatey, laid over agarwood, which brings a dark, resinous, slightly animalic depth, with woody and woodsy notes adding a dry, steady structure that keeps the whole thing grounded.

It is worn by anyone and suits autumn and winter and the evening, for someone who already likes patchouli and oud and wants them together without sweetness or fruit getting in the way.
