Ambre Khandjar

Ambre Khandjar by Une Nuit Nomade, composed by Jérôme di Marino in 2019 and worn by anyone, is a dense, sweet, resinous amber. People describe it as sweet, woody, floral and resinous in equal measure, and about half also find it citrusy.

Plum and mandarin orange open it, the plum dark and jammy, the mandarin adding a brief, juicy brightness. The heart is where the amber takes shape: labdanum brings a dark, resinous, slightly leathery warmth, vanilla pod a rich, creamy sweetness, orris root a cool, powdery elegance and ylang-ylang a creamy, slightly banana-like floral note. The base is patchouli, sandalwood and benzoin, earthy, creamy and balsamic in turn, which gives the scent a long, warm, slightly smoky finish.

It reads as a cold-weather and evening fragrance in the classic amber tradition, with the fruit and iris keeping it from being purely sweet. It suits someone who likes ambers with depth and a bit of powder rather than pure vanilla.
