Flaming Red

Flaming Red, composed by Chris Maurice and Santi Burgas for the Spanish house Santi Burgas in 2015, is described by everyone who rates it as both gourmand and floral, with about half also calling it woody and ambered. It is a rose made sweet with tropical fruit and vanilla.

Passionfruit gives a tangy, juicy, slightly sharp sweetness at the opening, and Bulgarian rose follows as the floral centre, fresh and a little green. Orris root adds a cool, powdery softness that keeps the fruit and flower from feeling loud. The base brings the weight: agarwood adds a resinous, woody depth, bourbon vanilla a rich, slightly boozy sweetness, and amber a soft, warm, resinous glow that lingers.
