Qi

Qi, from the British house Ormonde Jayne, is a green tea floral composed by Geza Schoen and released in 2012. Floral is the word everyone uses; two thirds also call it green, a third resinous and a smaller group musky.

Lemon blossom and neroli open it with a fresh, orange-flower brightness, and mate and tea add a leafy, slightly bitter greenness that runs through the whole scent. The heart is osmanthus, with its apricot-and-suede softness, alongside freesia for a peppery, watery floral tone, violet for a touch of powder and a little rose for body; hedione gives the florals a transparent, airy lift. The base is quieter and more unusual than the opening suggests: oakmoss and moss bring a damp, earthy depth, and benzoin and myrrh a gentle, slightly medicinal resin, with musk to soften it.

It is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. The tea and moss suggest daytime and spring or early autumn, and it suits people who like florals that smell cool and composed rather than sweet.
