Vibrant Noir

Vibrant Noir by Louis Cardin, released in 2017, is a woody citrus amber for men with a rose opening. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, amber-like and citrusy; about half also find it floral.

Bergamot opens it with bright zest, rose adds a velvety floral sweetness and patchouli, unusually placed at the top, gives the start an earthy, dark depth from the first minute. The heart keeps the citrus going with a general citrus note and brings in woody notes for a dry, clean structure. The base is warm and resinous: amber for a soft, honeyed glow and resin for a sticky, balsamic richness that lingers and gives the scent its evening character.

It wears as a warm, slightly old-fashioned masculine scent, fresh and rosy at first and ambery as it settles, suited to autumn and winter and the evening. It suits someone who likes rose and patchouli in a masculine frame and wants a resinous, long dry-down rather than a sharp, sporty one.
