Rebellion

Rebellion, from Gritti, was composed by Luca Gritti and released in 2021, and it is worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it finds it gourmand, woody and citrus, and about half add green, aromatic and amber.

Lemon zest and bergamot open it with a sharp, bright freshness, and mint adds a cool, aromatic lift. Shiso, the Japanese herb, gives a green, slightly cumin-like, basil-tinged note that is the most distinctive element. A general fruity sweetness runs through the middle, which is where the gourmand impression comes from. Cypress adds a resinous, coniferous greenness, and the base is firmly earthy: oakmoss for a dry, bitter depth, patchouli for a dark, cocoa-like richness, and ambergris for a salty, warm, musky glow.

Fresh herbs and fruit over moss and patchouli give it a chypre-like backbone. It suits daytime in any season, and will appeal to people who like green, aromatic scents with a sweet twist and a serious base.
