Sultan The Conqueror

Sultan The Conqueror by French Avenue, released in 2024 and composed by Carole Calmettes, is a dense, spicy woody oriental worn by anyone. Woody is the word everyone uses; more than half also call it spicy, two fifths find it amber-like, and a minority mention green, resinous and leather shades.

Cardamom and cinnamon open it with warm, dry spice, and cumin adds an earthy, slightly sweaty depth that gives the start real character. Clary sage brings a herbal, musky green. The heart is wood and smoke: agarwood (oud) for a rich, animalic depth, cedar and guaiac wood for dry and smoky structure, incense for a resinous haze. The base is heavy and warm: patchouli for earth, labdanum and amber for a sticky, sweet resin and leather for a supple, dark finish.

It is a cold-weather, evening fragrance for someone who enjoys bold oud and incense compositions with spice and leather, and who wants presence rather than discretion.
