Zaid

Zaid from the Canadian house Eau De Moe, released in 2024, is a dry, peppery woody scent built on modern materials. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; about a quarter also find it spicy, aromatic or ambery.

Pepper and timur, a Nepalese pepper with a bright, grapefruit-like, slightly tingling character, give the opening a sharp, zesty heat, and basil adds a green, herbal, peppery freshness. The heart and base are built on woods of different textures: patchouli for an earthy, dark depth, vetiver for a rooty, smoky dryness, and Akigalawood, a patchouli-derived material that smells of pepper, oud and dry wood at once. Ambroxan adds a dry, mineral, radiant amber glow that carries the scent and gives it staying power.

Zaid is worn by anyone. Its clean, dry, peppery character suits autumn and spring and daytime wear, including the office, and it should appeal to someone who likes modern woody scents with spice but no sweetness.
