The opening is bright and cool: orange and bergamot give a sunny citrus, and eucalyptus adds a sharp, camphorous freshness. The heart is herbal and slightly floral, with thyme and artemisia bringing a bitter, savoury green, litsea cubeba a lemony lift, violet a soft powder and ylang-ylang a creamy floral touch, all grounded by patchouli. The base of woody notes, labdanum, myrrh, vetiver and musk is dry and resinous, the labdanum and myrrh adding a warm, balsamic depth and the vetiver a smoky root.
The profile suits spring and autumn, daytime and evenings, and it works for both the office and a Mediterranean holiday. Numero Uno will appeal to men who like herbal, resinous woods with a fresh opening.
