Lilyn

Lilyn is an aquatic floral from the Romanian house Calaj, composed by Miguel Matos and released in 2020. Fresh is the word everyone uses; just over half also call it floral, and about four in ten find it gourmand, green or ambery, with a minority picking up an aromatic edge.

Sea water and seaweed set a salty, briny, slightly mineral scene, and lemon leaf, basil and petitgrain add a green, herbal, citrus-leaf freshness. Against this stands a soft, creamy accord of coconut and milk, which gives the scent a gentle, almost edible roundness. The flowers are tropical and lush: ylang-ylang, jasmine and tuberose, heady and sweet but kept airy by all the water around them. Ambergris and ambroxan in the base add a warm, salty, skin-like glow that holds the composition together.

Lilyn is worn by anyone. Its character points firmly to summer, beaches and warm evenings, and it should appeal to someone who likes aquatic scents but wants flowers and a creamy softness in them.
