Alioth, composed by Paolo Terenzi for Tiziana Terenzi in 2018, is a spicy oud with rose, green pepper and a warm vanilla base. Spice is the leading impression for everyone who describes it, about half also notice wood and flowers, and smaller groups mention sweetness, musk and amber.
Black pepper, green pepper and cardamom give the opening a dry, sparkling and cool aromatic spice, and green bell pepper adds a vivid, crunchy, vegetal greenness. Saffron brings a warm, leathery glow. The heart is floral, with Bulgarian rose giving a velvety depth and ylang-ylang a creamy, sunny sweetness. The base is dark and rich: Indian oud and Cambodian oud add a resinous, slightly animalic woodiness, patchouli and cypriol an earthy, smoky depth, and Madagascar vanilla, ambergris and musk a smooth, sweet, skin-like finish.
Unisex in spirit, it suits people who enjoy spicy rose-oud compositions with an unusual green twist. The profile points to autumn and winter, evenings and formal occasions. Those who like peppery ouds should find it distinctive.
