Matcha Lemon from the Italian brand Teaology, composed by Amandine Clerc-Marie and released in 2019, is sweet and citrusy in equal measure. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand and citrusy, and about half add green, woody, floral or ambery.
The notes are listed without stages. Italian lemon and lemon open bright, zesty and slightly sharp. Sugar and sugar cane then sweeten the citrus into something closer to lemonade or lemon sweets, which is where the gourmand impression comes from. Matcha tea adds a green, grassy, faintly bitter note that keeps the sweetness in check, and lily of the valley a light, dewy floral touch. Cedar gives a dry wood in the base, musk a soft finish, and ambroxan a clean, salty warmth.
