Gentil Suono

Gentil Suono from Salvatore Ferragamo, composed by Serge Majoullier and released in 2019, is woody and resinous above all. Everyone who describes it uses both words; about two thirds add spicy, and a third mention florals, amber or citrus.

The notes arrive as one list. Mandarin and plum open with a short, sweet-tart fruitiness, and black pepper brings a dry, sharp heat. Geranium adds a green, rosy tint in the middle. The base carries the composition: frankincense gives a smoky, slightly citrusy incense, myrrh a darker, bitter, balsamic resin, labdanum a warm ambery stickiness, and cedar with bourbon vetiver a dry, smoky, earthy wood.

It is worn by anyone. Community reports on longevity and projection have not yet been collected. The incense-heavy, peppery wood suits cooler seasons and evenings, and it will appeal to someone who likes meditative, smoky resins with a peppery bite rather than sweetness or obvious florals.
