Bois d'Orange

Bois d'Orange is an orange-tree fragrance from the French house Roger & Gallet, composed by Dominique Ropion and released in 2009 for anyone to wear. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, most also find it sweet and citrusy, about half woody, and a third green.

The pyramid follows the tree from fruit to wood. Orange and mandarin orange open it with a sweet, juicy zest, and petitgrain, distilled from the leaves and twigs, adds a green, slightly bitter freshness. The heart is orange blossom with jasmine and ylang-ylang, a warm, sunny white-floral bouquet, and coconut blossom brings a soft, creamy, faintly tropical sweetness. The base of Atlas cedar and vanilla is dry and gently sweet, the cedar giving the wood that the name promises.

There are no wear reports yet to describe longevity, projection or preferred seasons. On its notes, this is a spring and summer daytime scent, light and cheerful, for someone who likes orange blossom with a touch of coconut and cedar rather than heavy musk.
