Rocco Black For Men, composed by Maurizio Cerizza for the Italian house Roccobarocco in 2012, is a warm, spicy amber. Everyone who describes it calls it spicy, woody and ambery, and about half also find it musky, resinous and citrusy.
Lemon and pink pepper give a brief, bright lift at the start, with violet leaf adding a green, slightly metallic edge. Cinnamon warms the heart, and incense gives it a dry, smoky, church-like lift. The base is rich and resinous: labdanum and amber for a sweet, balsamic depth, rosewood for a smooth, slightly floral wood, patchouli for earth, and musk to soften the whole thing.
This is a cold-weather, evening scent, suited to winter coats and dinners rather than summer afternoons. It should appeal to men who like resinous, incense-tinged ambers with a classic Italian warmth.
