Oud On Fire is a woody fragrance from the Spanish house Ramon Monegal, composed by Ramon Monegal himself and released in 2017. Everyone who describes it says woody; most add spicy, under half floral or ambery, and a minority find it sweet.
The name sets the tone. Black pepper and cinnamon provide the fire, a dry heat rather than a sugary spice. Oud sits at the centre, giving it a dark, slightly medicinal, leathery wood, supported by cedar and balsam fir for a cleaner, more resinous edge. Rose and geranium soften the middle with a classic oud-and-rose pairing. In the base, cashmeran and amberwood add a smooth, warm, almost velvety texture, and tonka bean lends a light sweetness.
It is worn by anyone comfortable with oud. Community reports on longevity and sillage are not yet available. The character points firmly to cold weather, evenings and occasions where a bold, warm scent is welcome rather than a discreet one.
