Passion

Released in 2010, Passion by Police is a sweet woody fragrance for men with a surprisingly floral side. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, most also find it woody, about two-thirds notice flowers, and half pick up citrus; a smaller group find it aromatic or green.

The note list is long and unstructured, so it helps to group it. Citrus and fruit open things up: bergamot and green apple give a bright, tart start, with mint adding a cool lift. Lavender and freesia make a light floral middle. The base turns sweet and soft, with caramel and vanilla over cedar and musk, the wood keeping the sugar in check.

Passion is positioned as a masculine fragrance. Its sweetness suggests it works better in cooler weather and in the evening than on a hot day, and it suits someone who likes an approachable, sweet scent with wood underneath rather than something sharp or austere. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
