Oud Satin Mood, created by Francis Kurkdjian for his own house in 2015, is a sweet rose and oud worn by anyone. Sweetness and flowers are noticed equally by everyone, most wearers also find it woody, and a third describe it as resinous and ambery.
Bulgarian rose opens it with violet, soft and powdery, and strawberry, which adds a jammy, red-fruit sweetness. The heart is Turkish rose, deep and velvety, so the flower runs right through the scent. The base is where the satin comes from: oud gives a smooth, resinous wood rather than a rough smoke, and vanilla, caramel, benzoin and amber wrap it in a thick, balsamic sweetness, with cedar adding a little dryness.
Most people find it long lasting, and a large share describe it as practically eternal; sillage is strong, and a fifth call it enormous. It is voted overwhelmingly for winter and autumn and for the evening, suiting anyone who wants a plush, sweet rose for cold nights.
