Everyone describes it as woody and about two thirds as amber; spicy, gourmand, musky and floral facets are noted by a third.
It opens with saffron and bitter almond, a warm, leathery spice next to a marzipan-like sweetness, so the start is both dry and sugary. The heart pairs Egyptian jasmine, a rich, creamy white floral, with Virginia cedar, a dry, pencil-shaving wood that keeps the sweetness in check. The base is where it lives for hours: ambergris and ambroxan give a warm, mineral, radiant glow, cashmeran a soft musky wood, musk a skin-like smoothness and woody notes a dry frame.
