Amethyst Exquise

Amethyst Exquise from Lalique is a sweet, fruity floral feminine released in 2017. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, most also floral, and a quarter pick up wood, musk or resin underneath.

The opening is a basket of dark berries, raspberry, black currant and blackberry, juicy and slightly tart, with heliotrope adding a soft, almond-like powder from the start. The heart is Bulgarian rose and orchid, a rich, velvety floral centre that keeps the fruit from turning childish. The base brings gardenia for a creamy white-floral warmth, vanilla and benzoin for a resinous sweetness, and sandalwood for a smooth, milky woodiness.

Wearers are evenly split between moderate and long lasting longevity, and sillage is moderate for most, intimate for about a quarter. It is voted mainly for winter and then autumn, and slightly more for night. That suggests a cosy, sweet floral for cold evenings, better suited to dinners and dark months than to summer afternoons.
