Twilly d'Hermès Eau Poivrée Eau de Parfum is the peppery flanker from Hermès, released in 2019 as an EDP and composed by Christine Nagel. It is described as spicy, woody and floral in equal measure, which maps exactly onto its three notes. It is a feminine fragrance.
Pink pepper opens it, rosy and sparkling with a gentle heat rather than a harsh bite. Rose is the heart, and because pink pepper already has a rosy side the two blend into one continuous floral spice. Patchouli is the base, earthy and slightly dark, giving the rose a dry, woody floor and the whole thing more backbone than a soft rose scent would have.
Wearers are evenly split between long lasting and moderate longevity, and sillage is moderate for most, strong for a quarter. Spring and autumn are the favoured seasons, and it is voted strongly for day. It suits daytime and office wear in mild weather, for someone who finds plain rose too sweet and wants spice and earth around it.
