Guess Seductive, released in 2010 and composed by Véronique Nyberg, is a sweet fruity-floral for women with an unexpectedly smoky base. Those who describe it call it gourmand and floral in equal measure, with woody, resinous and citrus facets noted by about a third.
It opens on pear and blackcurrant, a juicy and slightly tart fruit pairing lifted by bergamot. The heart is a white-floral trio of orange flower, jasmine and orris root, where the orris adds a soft, powdery, lipstick-like quality that tempers the sweetness. The base is where it differs from the usual fruity-floral: vanilla gives warmth and sugar, cashmere wood a smooth, musky woodiness, and frankincense a faint, dry, church-like smokiness underneath.
Longevity is modest: most wearers call it moderate and a quarter find it weak, and sillage is moderate to intimate. It is voted mostly for daytime and for autumn and spring, which suits a soft, pretty scent for everyday wear rather than one meant to make an entrance.
