Iperione, created by Paolo Terenzi for the Italian house Giardino Benessere in 2020, is a lush floral with oud underneath. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, some find it woody, and a minority pick up sweetness, musk and amber. It is worn by anyone.
Raspberry gives a tart, jammy brightness at the start, and lily of the valley adds a dewy green freshness. The heart is rich: Taif rose, osmanthus with its apricot and suede tones, and Italian iris for a cool, powdery texture. Mastic adds a resinous, slightly piney edge. The base pairs Indian oud and cypriol for a dry, smoky depth, softened by ambergris and musk.
The combination of rose, iris and oud points to evenings and cooler seasons, and to people who enjoy an ornate, layered floral rather than a simple one. It is a scent for dressing up.
