Cool Water from Davidoff is a herbal, marine freshness that most people describe as aromatic first, floral second, with woody and fresh facets for about half and a little spice and musk for a minority. It was composed by Pierre Bourdon.
The opening is a cool rush: sea water for a salty, watery breeze, mint and lavender for a clean, herbal chill, with rosemary adding a dry, green sharpness. The heart is softer, neroli and jasmine lending a light floral sweetness and sandalwood a first hint of warmth. The base is where it settles, oakmoss giving a dry, slightly mossy wood, with tobacco and ambergris adding a faint salty warmth that lingers.
Most wearers find the longevity moderate and a quarter call it weak; the sillage is moderate for the great majority. Summer takes most of the seasonal votes and it is overwhelmingly worn by day. It suits hot weather, sport and anyone who wants a classic fresh, marine scent that is easy to wear every day.
