Club de Nuit Untold, from Armaf in 2022 and worn by anyone, is an amber through and through. Ambery is the word everyone uses; a third also find it spicy, woody and floral, and those three facets map onto its six notes exactly.
Saffron and jasmine open it, a warm, leathery, slightly medicinal spice next to a heady white flower, which gives the first minutes their richness. The heart is ambergris and amberwood, a salty, mineral, skin-like warmth paired with a dry, radiant wood. The base is cedar and fir resin, a pencil-shaving dryness and a sticky, green, slightly sweet balsam that keeps the drydown from turning soft.
Performance is one of its main points: most wearers find it long lasting and more than a fifth call it near permanent, and the sillage is strong for the great majority. Winter and autumn lead the seasonal votes and it tilts slightly towards the night. It suits cold weather, evenings and anyone who wants a big, dry amber that will be noticed.
